The development series, which runs each year, gives young players in U14 and U15 level, in our zone, the opportunity to play against other TSL clubs and is a talent identification series which may lead to some being selected in AFL TAS Football academies and play U16 and U18 State Football. The last few series have seen Mark Walsh, Joby Reynolds, Ethan Petterwood and Bradley Cox-Goodyer play Senior Football at our club and also State Football so the programme is very successful for all.
The Series held this year over Easter was very successful, with some very good performances over the two age groups U14 and 15, with 25 players from these two age groups being selected to progress to the next stage of the talent pathway. Thanks to all coaches, players and parents for making this a success and our two sponsors Heritage Isle credit union and Wests Bakery.
The FIS and Auskick is a great concept where we attend schools, in our zone, and introduce football skills. We have 24 schools in our vast zone and really enjoy visiting these schools over the winter months. The Dipper Road show is also a great day for school kids to be involved in a clinic and to meet former Hawthorn star Robert “Dipper” Dipierdomenico and is always a very humorous day and enjoyed by all. The North Launceston Football Club also held the Football in Schools season launch at Aurora Stadium with 60 kids involved in 2011.
